The Wind'
Subject
Watercolor painting--19th century.
English poetry--19th century.
Description
A standing figure in a long, softly draped gown occupies the center of the composition, with stylized yellow flowers flowing around their body and hair. Their expression is neutral, and the gown features shades of white, pink, and violet. Beside them, a second figure is bent forward, partially crouched or kneeling, with hands covering their face. The background is rendered in muted tones with minimal detail. The work is signed "Margaret Macdonald 1897" in the lower left corner.
