English poetry--19th century.
Description
Four elongated, stylized figures occupy a shadowed, mystical environment. One figure near the center bends forward with arms outstretched, facing a taller figure who stands opposite. Two additional figures appear behind the central figure, with faint outlines and soft green and pink tones. A long stem with two red flowers rises from the ground between the main figures. Above them is a large circular form resembling a celestial body or dome, possibly the underside of a large bell, painted in dark blue and gray tones. The artwork is signed "Margaret Macdonald 1897" in the lower left corner.
