As can be seen in the threatening gesture of the man at the right, having a busload of tourists suddenly stop and start taking pictures without permission while he and his colleagues were laboring hard. A few minutes of mutual exchanges of good will, facilitated by the tour guide and some of the Americans' helping to knock down branches, changed attitudes from suspicious to welcoming -- typical of what can be done through direct person-to-person interaction.
